The Best Place to Watch Football in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge The coming of fall means crisp weather, beautiful foliage, and football on TV! When you vacation in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN, you’ll want to keep up with your favorite NFL and college teams. (CBS) -The Big Ten has voted to eliminate the requirement that football teams must play six games to be eligible for its 2020 conference championship game, the conference announced Wednesday. The decision comes just a day after the University of Michigan canceled its upcoming game against Ohio State, which would have made the Buckeyes.
Pigeon Forge is home to many great restaurants that serve up a varied selection of dishes. From classic pancake breakfasts and Southern dinners to French fries and craft beers, there’s something for everyone’s taste and appetite.
Here are 10 of the best restaurants in town:
Reagan’s House of Pancakes
Forget the global chain pancake houses, and eat local with Raegan’s House of Pancakes. A traditional breakfast spot, you’ll find all the breakfast staples — pancakes, eggs, bacon and more — on the menu as well as available at the oversized buffet. Fill up in the morning, and the hearty breakfast will keep you going well through midday.
Should you skip the day’s most important meal, this is also a great spot for lunch. The cheeseburgers and BLTs might not be in the eatery’s name, but they’re certainly worthy lunchtime options.
Sawyer’s Farmhouse Restaurant

A relatively new establishment, Sawyer’s has quickly become a go-to breakfast place. There’s no shortage of egg, waffle, pancakes and other breakfast plates, and all of these are served as long as the farmhouse is open. Go for the Bananas Foster French Toast for a truly rich start to the day, or get the Mountain Man and see if you can eat it all.
Later in the morning, Sawyer’s begins serving lunch too. There’s traditional sandwiches and burgers, along with breakfast-infused creations — like the Bacon Egg Cheeseburger — in case you can’t make up your mind.
Brick & Spoon
Brick & Spoon serves breakfast dishes that come with a good dose of creativity. Perhaps the best example of this is the Build Your Own Bloody Mary, in which you can choose from 50 different ingredients, but there’s plenty of other options for those who want something more solid to eat.

Menu items run the gamut from french toast to breakfast tacos, and there are several lunch items for later in the day. No matter who’s in your group, they’ll find something fun to try here.
Pigeon Forge Deli
Pigeon Forge Deli is everything that a mom-and-pop deli should be. The deli serves up a variety of fresh sandwiches on its own breads, and there are plenty of bread choices to choose from. Go with the honey whole wheat or sub roll for a traditional choice, or try a sandwich on some pretzel bread. Gluten-free is an option as well.
In the post-lunch hours, stop here for a snack. The homemade pretzels come in several different flavors, ranging from sweet to savory.
The Pottery House Cafe and Grille
The Pottery House Cafe and Grille serves up classic country dishes in a cozy setting. Choose from buttermilk chicken, fried catfish or a garden panini, and take some time to admire the decor as your food is prepared. Many of the decorations, including everything from the dishware and salt shakers to the restroom sinks, were made by artists in the area. Whatever you do end up ordering, you’ll likely have enough leftover for a meal later on.
Local Goat New American Restaurant
Local Goat New American Restaurant is committed to using local ingredients and making dishes from scratch. The result is delicious, and it serves as a window into Pigeon Forge’s cultural scene. In addition to freshly made appetizers, burgers and desserts, there’s also an ample selection of craft beers on tap — 24 in total and 22 from brewers in the area. Alternatively, you can also order a craft cocktail or one of the many wines available.
Poynor’s Pommes Frites
Poynor’s Pommes Frites is run by a husband-and-wife team who know their French fries, or “pomme frites” as they’re called in Belgium. The menu features German bratwurst that put most American hot dogs to shame, but it’s the fries that really stand out here.
The Belgium-style fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and perfect for dipping. Choose from the many house-made dipping sauces, which range from fruity to spicy, and order some extra fries. They’ll likely disappear quickly.
Blue Moose Burgers & Wings
If you’re worried about missing a big game, head to Blue Moose Burgers & Wings when your team is playing. The sports bar has 100-percent USDA American beef burgers, 23 different wing options and plenty of televisions to catch the big plays on. Of course, there’s an appropriate beer menu of draft, bottle and can options as well.
Alternatively, this is also the place to head on a nice day when you want wings but there’s no important game on. Rather than eating inside and watching TV, sit on the patio and enjoy an order or two.
The Old Mill Restaurant
The Old Mill Restaurant knows how meals are done in the South. The pace for diners is slow (be prepared to wait 90-plus minutes), the food is scrumptious and the portions are huge. Chances are you can’t eat all the biscuits, grits and gravy that you’re served.
The prices here may look high for comfort food, but that’s because everything is served in true Southern fashion — drinks, fixin’s and dessert are all included. It wouldn’t be right to go home without sweet tea and pecan pie, after all.
